Since June 2009, BancoEstado reached for the first time this top position in internet users, and has yet stayed there.   This information has been confirmed by the last report issued by the Superintendency of Banks and Financial Institutions (SBIF).

At late December 2009, the state bank’s website www.bancoestado.cl  left behind its closest competitors by far, with more than 690 thousand users. This situation is mainly due to the permanent use of payment methods as current accounts, credit cards and mainly CuentaRut account given by the entity’s clients.

Thanks to these products, more people have incorporated to the financial system, as they have an increasing variety of transactions available such as transfers- between their own accounts and third parties- and on line payments at a lower-cost and without effort.

The abovementioned is due to the determination of the bank to offer several financial solutions to every client nationwide.   The CuentaRUT account has been a key factor.  That payment method, which is also used as Bip! card [public transportation card] has no maintenance fee, nor income requirements to be obtained.  This allows the users to carry out different transactions electronically in a faster and safer way.

For the of the BancoEstado’s E-Channels Management, one of the main targets has been to incorporate users in the system, and Internet has played a key role. The management’s hope for this year is to close with 1 million online services’ clients.
