This subsidiary was created in September 1999 as a BancoEstado subsidiary, in order to offer bank customers a wide range of insurance policies, at low prices and with more coverage, reaching the segments that due to socioeconomic conditions do not have access to these products. Thus, BancoEstado fully entered into the activities of BancaSeguros, which is becoming the most important channel for mass marketing insurance policies.
In a short period, this BancoEstado subsidiary has begun to have a strong share in BancaSeguros market, and today it has become the second most important banking broker of the insurance market, having one and a half million customers insured and offering a wide range of insurances policies.

In September 2004, due to this successful performance, BancoEstado undertakes a sales promise and strategic alliance with MetLife Inc., an American company leader in life insurance policies sales, in order to continue fostering the insurance business and widening the range of products offered to the customer segment. This alliance culminated the process started two years before and which aimed to incorporate an international strategic partner.

This is how BancoEstado Corredores de Seguros S.A. emerged; it continues to be a bank subsidy, but 50.1% is owned by BancoEstado and 49.9% by MetLife Chile Inversiones Ltda.
