CajaVecina (Neighborhood Cash Machines) is an innovative service model that permits withdrawals, deposits, transferring money between BancoEstado accounts and pay bills, quickly, easily and safely.
In order to use this service, an ATM or CuentaRUT card has to be inserted into the electronic device that will be installed in shopping centers in different regions, helping customers to save time and money by not having to travel long distances to reach the closest branch.
The idea is to do banking transactions “just around the corner.”
In 2005, access to financial services in Chile was limited; due to demographic and communications factors and also the lack of interest of the banking system in districts with few inhabitants or low-income families. There are 345 districts in Chile, and in 125 there were no financial services whatsoever. BancoEstado, in view of this scenario, and inspired by its Social Role, took charge and created CajaVecina, its subsidiary company.
The CajaVecina Project started in November 2005 with two service points and the responsibility of being pioneers in Chile. Today, CajaVecina is present in more than 98% of the 345 districts nationwide, and supplies more than 2,000 banking service points.
The Subsidiary’s success is not only because it has made life simple for thousands of Chileans, but also because it is an intelligent proposal where the commercial and operations areas work together toward the same the same goal.
